Community Meeting

With U.S. Department of Justice and Arab, Chaldean and Muslim American Educators

Friday, 5 October 2001

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee - Michigan (ADC) Educational Committee, along with the Office of the Superintendent of the Dearborn Public Schools, cordially invite you to a community meeting with representatives from the United States Department of Justice - Civil Rights Division on Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at 5:00 PM at the Dearborn Civic Center (15801 Michigan Avenue - Studio A Theater).

Ms. Kristan Mayer and Mr. Daniel Gordon, representatives from the US Dept. of Justice in Washington, DC, will be our special guests at the meeting.

The goal of this meeting is to discuss the impact of the September 11 tragedy that struck our nation, in particular, its affects on the student population in our community and the backlashes that Arab, Chaldean and Muslim Americans have endured since then. This meeting will also help us discuss mutual concerns regarding the prospects of investigations taking place in Michigan, as well as across the nation.

The ADC of Michigan would like to express its appreciation to the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, the City of Dearborn and the Dearborn Public Schools for facilitating and supporting this very important effort.

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday. Should you need any further information regarding this meeting, please contact the ADC Regional Office at 313-581-1201.
