The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) calls on the community at large to actively participate in the following events.

1.         Community Town Hall Meeting – October 11, 2001

        The Arab and Muslim American communities will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, October 11, 2001 to discuss important issues relating to the September 11, 2001 Tragedy, which are affecting our community.  The meeting will take place at the Heritage Manor (7258 Chase Rd.) in Dearborn at 6:30 PM.  All community members are encouraged to attend and contribute to the discussion.

2.         Community Meeting with Media – October 12, 2001

Members of the Arab and Muslim American communities will be meeting with local media outlets (broadcast television and radio, and print) on Friday, October 12, 2001 at the New Yasmeen Bakery in Dearborn at 8:30 AM.  This meeting will serve to enhance the dialogue and relationship of these communities with various media outlets.  Attendance to this meeting is by INVITATION ONLY. 

3.         Community Debriefing – October 13, 2001

       Congressman John Conyers, Jr. and Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick invite your attendance and participation at a community debriefing on the proposed federal legislation on terrorism on Saturday, October 13, 2001 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center (2 Woodward Ave.) in Detroit.  For more information, call 313-871-2087. 

4.         Focus Hope Walk – October 14, 2001

       Community members are encouraged to join the Arab American contingent that will be participating in this year’s Focus Hope Walk, which will center on “Celebrating Diversity.”  Participants are asked to gather at 1355 Oakman Boulevard, between Linwood and 14th Street in Detroit at 1:00 PM on Sunday the 14th to walk the eight-mile route.  Registration will begin at 11:00 AM and entertainment will begin at 11:30 AM.  Walkers must be registered before walking.  For more information, call 313-494-5500.    

5.         Candidate Night – October 15, 2001

The Arab American Public Affairs Council (AAPAC) will be hosting Candidate Night at the Heritage Manor (7258 Chase Rd.) in Dearborn on Monday, October 15, 2001 at 6:30 PM.  This event is organized to allow interaction between the candidates for public office and members of the community.  Admission is free and open to the public.  For more information call Neal Abunab at 313-506-4409. 

6.    Conference on Racial Profiling – October 17, 2001

The Michigan House of Representatives’ House Committee on Racial Profiling, along with Michigan Attorney General Jennifer Granholm, will be chairing a public conference on racial profiling, specifically related to concerns of people of Arab descent.  The Conference will take place at the ACCESS Office (6451 Schaefer Rd.) in Dearborn at 6:00 PM.  For more information, call 888-647-3710.    

7.    “Rock Against Profiling” – October 20, 2001

On Friday, October 20, 2001 at 7:00 PM, over 20 community organizations will be sponsoring a musical concert against profiling, racism and ethnic intimidation.  The concert will take place at Detroit’s Majestic Theater (1234 Woodward Ave.).  Tickets are $5 a person.  For more information, call Greta from ACCESS’ Cultural Arts Department at 313-843-2844. 

8.      AAPAC Annual Dinner – October 26, 2001

The Arab American Political Action Committee will be hosting its 4th Annual Dinner on Friday, October 26, 2001 at the Bint Jebail Cultural Center (6220 Miller Road) in Dearborn at 6:30 PM.  Tickets are $45 per person.  For more information, or to make reservations, contact Ramez Haidar at 313-218-0183.  

9.      Islamic Center Dinner – October 28, 2001
