Israel's 55-year-old Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein is seen in this Aug. 8, 2002 photo, as he checks the documents of a Palestinian man at the Kalandia checkpoint on the road between Jerusalem and the West Bank town of Ramallah. According to Israeli officials, Rubinstein was serving in reserve duty, after briefly volunteering as an ordinary soldier at the Kalandia checkpoint, on the same day three Palestinians were severely beaten by soldiers there.
